Why everyone takes the selfie check

Fake profiles, stolen photos and bots are what make people feel unsafe on social apps. A live selfie matched with your photos stops them before they start: everyone you see is a real person, an adult, and the photos are really theirs. It’s quick, needs no ID, and it’s a good start for everyone.

Why we encourage everyone to get ID verified

The ID check gives the strongest safety we can offer, and peace of mind for you and for the women you meet. It’s free, takes about 2 minutes and you do it once. We encourage every member to do it, whatever plan they’re on and however they use Allez Club. ID verified members also get the ID verified badge, can use the “ID verified only” filter and are seen by the members who use it.

Why the ID check is still optional

Many women don’t want to show a government ID to an app they’ve just installed, and that’s a fair choice. The selfie check already proves a real person with their own photos, so nobody is shut out for saying no to the ID. You can do it any time later, in a couple of taps.

Why organizers need to be ID verified

Our rule of thumb: whoever organizes for people they don’t know yet is ID verified. That’s why you need the ID check to run a circle above 8 (Community) or to be a co-host. Joining circles and sessions stays open to everyone who passed the selfie check.

Why we use a verification partner

Checking IDs and faces safely is specialist work. Our partner, Didit, runs both checks, so Allez Club never stores your ID, your selfie or face data. We keep only the result. See what we keep.

The selfie check

1. Right after you add your photos in the app, you take a quick live selfie. It takes about 30 seconds, and no ID is needed.
2. Our verification partner, Didit, checks that it’s a live person and compares your face with your main photo.
3. Once it matches, the Selfie verified badge appears on your card and you can start swiping.

• If it doesn’t match, you can pick another main photo or take the selfie again. After 3 tries, a member of our team checks your photos by hand, within 1 to 3 business days. You can finish your card meanwhile; swiping starts once it’s sorted.
• If something technical goes wrong (camera, connection), just try again. It’s free.
• If the age estimate is under 25, we ask for the ID check (free) to confirm you’re 18 or older.
• If you change your main photo later, you take a quick new selfie, so the badge keeps meaning something. You can change it up to 3 times in 30 days. Once you’re ID verified, you can change it any time and you’re never asked again.

The ID check

1. In the app, tap Verify (in You or Settings, or wherever the app suggests it).
2. You take a photo of your government photo ID (driver’s licence, ID card, passport or PR card) and a live selfie. It takes about 2 minutes.
3. Didit checks the ID and matches it with your selfie, and we compare the photo on your ID with your card photo.
4. Once it goes through, the ID verified badge appears on your card.

• If the check can’t be completed (a blurry photo, glare, a connection or camera problem), try again at no cost.
• If something needs a closer look, a member of our team reviews it by hand and tells you the decision, usually within 1 to 3 business days.
• Free, on every plan. You never pay for the selfie check or the ID check.

What we keep, and for how long

We never store your ID images, your selfie or face data. We keep only:

• the result of each check (selfie and ID), the method and the date;
• Didit’s reference number for each check;
• the age estimate from your selfie check.

We keep these while your account exists, plus 24 months. For the ID check, we compare the date of birth and sex marker on your ID with your card, then discard them, and the photo on your ID is compared with your card photo without being stored.

Didit keeps the check’s images for 1 month, then deletes them. It also keeps a face template of your selfie for that time, to spot duplicate accounts and people we’ve banned. Didit stores this in the European Union and doesn’t use it to train its models.

Other members see your badge, never your verification details. All the details are in our privacy policy.

On the waitlist?

The first 100 in each city get a year of Premium free. Join the app with the email you used on the waitlist and get ID verified (free): there’s nothing to enter.

• Only a waitlist sign-up confirmed before you created your Allez Club account counts.
• Premium+ Lifetime members already have more, so they don’t get it.
